About

Sono un designer, un fotografo, un ingegnere, ma mi definisco, più semplicemente, un creativo o, con un termine molto in voga oggi…un “maker”.

Non mi dilungherò nel raccontare dove e cosa ho studiato o per chi ho lavorato. Per comprendere il percorso che mi ha portato ad essere la persona ed il designer che sono oggi, bisogna partire piuttosto da ciò che ha smosso il mio interesse e la mia curiosità sin da bambino e che ancora oggi stimola la mia mente. Bisogna parlare quindi di quelli che sono stati i miei due più grandi amori sin da piccolo, anche se ora i miei più grandi amori sono mia moglie e i miei due figli…

Ho sempre avuto un grande interesse e una grande curiosità verso la natura in tutte le sue forme, anche le più piccole. Da bambino volevo essere uno scienziato, o un esploratore. Molto presto ho sentito il desiderio di raccontare e di documentare, attraverso la fotografia, la natura che era intorno a me. E qui si viene al mio secondo grande amore, che, più che la fotografia, direi essere la tecnologia in generale. Questa seconda attrazione mi ha portato, poi, sulla strada del design. Due passioni quindi, che, per loro intrinseca natura, vivono un rapporto di equilibrio molto difficile. Questo sorta di “yin e yang” si ritrova spesso nel mio design e nelle miei fotografie, come contrasto, ma anche, appunto, come ricerca di un equilibrio. Mi piacerebbe che il mio lavoro raccontasse questo sforzo dell’uomo moderno che si illude di poter domare la natura ma che, in realtà, può riuscirvi solo rispettandola e sottostando alle regole che questa gli impone. Vorrei che ogni nuovo prodotto nascesse spinto da un bisogno, per poter servire a rendere più piacevole, più facile, più armoniosa, la vita di chi lo porterà a casa propria. Ogni oggetto, poi, dovrebbe incarnare in se il bello, il bello assoluto, quello il più possibile oggettivo, quello che resta immutato nel tempo. Credo che l’immortalità stilistica di un oggetto si nasconda nelle forme organiche. Mi piace, talvolta, che gli oggetti che disegno sembrino “nati” spontaneamente, più che essere progettati e costruiti. Per questo motivo mi piace valorizzare i materiali tradizionali, come il legno, la pietra, il vetro soffiato. Per me i dettagli sono molto importanti, gli oggetti rivelano la loro più intima natura attraverso piccoli particolari raffinati e armoniosi. Trovo fondamentale che il mio lavoro soddisfi il maggior numero di sensi possibili, e quindi, subito dopo la vista, il tatto e, perchè no, l’olfatto…

Che altro? Mi piace viaggiare, correre, arrampicare, nuotare, giocare coi miei figli…

I will not bother you to tell you where and what I have studied or for who I worked.
To understand the path that led me to be the person and the designer I am today, we have to start rather from what has stirred my interest and my curiosity as a child, and still stimulates my mind today.
We should, therefore, speak of those who have been my two greatest loves since childhood, although now my greatest loves are my wife and my two children…
I have always had a great interest and great curiosity for nature in all its forms, even the smallest. When I was a child I wanted to be a scientist or an explorer. Very soon I felt the desire to tell and to document, through photography, the nature that was around me.
And here we come to my second great love, that, rather than photography, I would say is the technology in general. This second attraction brought me, then, to the road of design. Two passions therefore, that, by their nature, they live a very difficult balance relation. This sort of “yin and yang” is often found in my design and pictures, as a contrast, but also, in fact, as the search for a balance. I would like my work to tell this modern human effort who deceives himself to able to tame the nature, but which, in reality, can only succeed respecting it and submitting to the rules that it imposes.
I wish that every new product will born driven by a need, to be able to make more enjoyable, easier, more harmonious, the life of those who take it to their homes. Every object, then, should embody itself the beauty, the absolute beauty, as objective as possible, what remains unchanged over time. I think the stylistic immortality of an object is hidden in the organic forms. I like sometimes the objects that I design to appear “born” spontaneously, rather than being designed and built. For this reason I like to enhance the traditional materials such as wood, stone, blown glass. For me, the details are very important, the objects reveals their most intimate nature through small refined and harmonious details. I find essential that my work meets as many senses as possible, and so, immediately after the sight, the touch and, perhaps, the sense of smell…

What else? I love to travel, to run, to climb, to swim, to play with my children…
